The Symbol of the Cicada

• The cicada represents a symbol of transformation and resurrection because of its life cycle. The first 13-17 years of its life are spent underground. The cicada then emerges from underground, and sheds its skin to reveal a new mature form. 
  

• Dating back for thousands of years, cicadas, for many cultures, represent personal change, renewal, rebirth, and transformation.
  

• This symbolism is often associated with human personal growth, spiritual awakening, and the cyclical nature of life's phases.
